Textile Upper
Constructed from a textile upper, the Salomon X Ultra Alpine keeps water at bay so you can stride with confidence no matter the weather. The durable upper offers a wide range of protection to help you gain the maximum from your footwear. To avoid damp feet, a GORE-TEX membrane supplies a combination of durable waterproofing and optimised breathability. Sometimes it's hard to stay dry without developing that distracting clammy feeling, but GORE-TEX keeps water on the outside while letting perspiration escape from the inside, keeping sweat to a minimum and you, cool and comfy. A textile lining encases each foot in breathable comfort. Perforations in the fabric increase airflow to create a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. A Sensifit system cradles the foot providing a precise and secure fit whilst the gusseted tongue sits comfortably against the skin and prevents debris from entering inside the boot. Protection is key while out on the trails, the X Ultra Alpine features a protective heel cap for rearfoot stability and a protective rubber toe cap enhances protection from loose or sharp rocks. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system which helps lock down the midfoot to reduce excessive movement.
EnergyCell Midsole
Within the midsole, the boot has injected and compressed EVA which forms the EnergyCell Midsole. This multi-functional midsole will provide both comfort and protection, as it has dual-density EVA. Towards the bottom, the EVA is extremely firm, which will absorb shocks instantly and effectively, preventing them from causing any damage to the sole. The energy produced from this will also be returned as a rebound, which will give you an added spring in your step. The higher you get in the midsole, the EVA becomes less densely packed, which will make every step feel comfortable. In addition to this, between the outsole and the midsole, there is an edging Chassis. This targets articulations on the outer foot to optimize stability without limiting your mobility while also keeping the front of the boot flexible for a more fluid ride.
Contagrip Outsole
The Salomon X Ultra Alpine features a Contagrip outsole with an alpine grip, providing unique traction and longevity. Contagrip is built for the widest variety of surfaces. It balances both the geometry and the rubber compound to deliver confidence on wet, dry, hard or loose surfaces, and offer long-term durability. The alpine grip grabs the terrain, even when it's wet or slippery, giving you more control, especially on descents. When you are moving on the wet and muddy ground, the boot's deep chevron lugs dig into the ground, which will anchor you in place. This will also benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking a stride, as well as digging into the ground when braking and changing direction.
