Lightweight Mesh and GORE-TEX Upper
The uppers of the Wildfire 2 GORE-TEX Shoes use a lightweight recycled mesh, that provides you with exceptional breathability and durability, allowing you to withstand rugged conditions for great protection. These robust materials not only protect your feet from knocks and bumps but, will also allow a consistent supply of fresh, cool air, to ensure that your feet feel cool and comfortable from start to finish of your adventure. This will prevent uncomfortable heat build-up and the construction will also ensure that the shoes have a sock-like fit, to keep them securely in place when wearing the shoes. The shoes have a GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Lining which provides a combination of moisture and heat transference to ensure feet remain dry and comfortable, whilst also ensuring they remain protected from rainy conditions. Further providing protection from knocks and bumps, the shoes have a TPU rand which gives structure and protection around the sides and on the toes, making them ideal for rocky environments. The shoe uses Salewa's 3F System to further improve the fit. Working alongside this, for a secure, precise fit, the shoes have a network of Kevlar Cables that wrap around your foot, providing increased flexibility and protection. This system will improve the flexibility of the upper, which also provides support and a blister-free fit. A SwitchFit adjustment works alongside the laces to push your toes forward in the shoes, working similarly to a climbing shoe. Finally, the climbing lacing system runs all the way down to the toe for an improved fit. The lacing system has adaptive eyelets which help to fine-tune the shape of the shoes and keep the lacing in place when you're on the move.
EVA Midsole
A full-length platform of EVA resides underfoot for lightweight, responsive cushioning. Generous, soft and durable, it spares your joints as you strike down on hard, unforgiving surfaces. Exceptionally lightweight, the EVA ensures long-lasting cushioning to keep you comfortable on long-distance days. EVA is extremely firm to absorb shocks instantly and effectively, preventing them from causing any damage to the sole of the foot. Energy produced from this will also be returned as rebound, which will give you an added spring in your step. The midsole ensures you're ready for unpredictable trails and tough terrain. Providing a changeable fit and feel, the shoes have an MFF+ Footbed, which has two separate, interchangeable layers. The footbed also features Cleansport NXT which uses naturally occurring, sustainable probiotic technology, keeping your feet feeling and smelling fresh.
POMOCA Outsole
Designed to provide traction and grip on uneven terrain, the Salewa Wildfire 2 GORE-TEX Walking Shoes have been constructed using a POMOCA outsole. Developed for extremely slippery terrain, the durable rubber can form a solid bond with the ground to anchor you in place. Despite facing abuse from rough ground, the rubber stands up against this, deflecting the blows and retaining a strong shape and structure. This will mean that the definition and functionality of the outsole will remain strong over a long period of time. The outsole has a climbing zone at the toe which ensures good edging performance. Its POMOCA Butylic compound rubber provides a better grip on rock in both dry and wet conditions, while the aggressive tread lugs offer improved traction on mud and softer terrain. Not only this, but the S-path technology of the outsole encourages a more natural roll-off.
