Merrell MTL Skyfire 2 Matryx Trail Running Shoes
The focus of the Matryx Pack is evolution rather than reinvention, with Merrell's elite athletes competing at the highest levels, in both the MTL Longsky 2 and the MTL Skyfire 2, the goal was to tune these patterns to meet their needs.
Matryx Upper
The upper of the MTL Sykfire 2 has been created with a Matryx material. Matryx combines multi-filament threads of Kevlar and high-tenacity polyamide to create a single-layer material, that's lightweight, whilst being more breathable and abrasive resistant. This makes the material tear-resistant, resisting damage from strong forces placed against it, this also allows moisture and sweat to escape easily, keeping feet dry and comfortable even when your run heats up. A traditional lacing system provides a locked-in, secure fit while the soft tongue reduces the risk of irritation caused by rubbing and chafing.
Dual Density FloatPro Foam Midsole
For the midsole Merrell's has used their signature FloatPro Foam ensuring a light and durable ride. The midsole provides exceptional underfoot cushioning reducing impacts placed upon the feet when tackling tough trails. The midsole offers supreme cushioning and support to key areas like the arch and heel, securely holding the foot in place for smoother transitions and wear. By supporting these key areas of the foot, the midsole material offers enough support to help prevent discomfort and possible injury. The shoes use a BZM-8 engineered flex plate, which offers increased performance and protection and Cleansport NXT treatment offers natural odour control. Completing the midsole is a non-removable EVA foam footbed that offers better cushioning, durability and increased breathability underfoot. The soft insole cushions your feet over long distances and increases ventilation to keep you cool when temperatures rise.
Vibram Megagrip
Completing these shoes is a Vibram Megagrip outsole, by adding this rubber outsole the MTL Skyfire 2 Matryx will provide extreme grip and traction for all surface wear. Developed for slippery terrain, the durable rubber can form a solid bond with the ground anchoring you in place. Despite facing abuse from rough ground, the rubber stands up against this, deflecting the blows and retaining a strong shape and structure. Ensuring multi-directional grip, the outsole provides traction on uneven terrain giving you confident footing on various surfaces. The durable rubber provides a strong grip on the most challenging terrain; it works to protect itself from damage and protect users from losing control and slipping. Completing the outsole are 5mm lugs that dig deep into the ground when braking or changing direction. The deep lugs can anchor the foot into the wet and muddy ground, securing you into place whilst forming a solid base to push off.
