GORE-TEX Upper
Designed to provide comfort and protection, the Merrell MOAB Speed 2 has been constructed using a lightweight nylon ripstop and TPU upper. The nylon upper works to provide lightweight breathability and protection to keep your feet safe on rocky terrains. Acting as a lightweight second skin, the upper ensures you are able to go the distance in complete comfort. Perforations in the fabric encourage cool air to circulate, removing uncomfortable heat build-up to create a healthy environment for your foot to thrive in. TPU overlays have been strategically placed on the upper to provide durability and support where it's needed the most. The reinforcements wrap the foot in lightweight support to promote a secure fit that resists wear and tear. To avoid damp feet, and therefore dampened spirits, a GORE-TEX membrane resides inside the shoe; it integrates with the upper to supply a combination of durable waterproofing and optimised breathability. Sometimes it's hard to stay dry without developing that distracting clammy feeling, but GORE-TEX keeps water on the outside while letting perspiration escape from the inside - keeping sweat to a minimum and you, cool and comfy. A padded collar reduces the risk of chafing and irritation while the protective heel and toe caps help to protect your feet from loose debris and uneven surfaces. Dual heel and tongue loops assist in putting the shoes on and off while a Cleansport NXT treatment prevents the growth of odour-causing microbes, keeping the shoes fresh for longer. A recycled mesh lining and recycled webbing provide an eco-friendly yet highly breathable shoe option. A bellows tongue prevents stones and debris from getting in and completing the upper is a traditional lacing system (with recycled laces) which locks down the midfoot so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.
FloatPro Foam Midsole
Within the midsole Merrell's signature FloatPro Foam has been used to ensure a light, durable ride. The midsole provides ample underfoot cushioning to reduce the impact placed upon the feet on tough trails whilst remaining as lightweight as possible so you'll never feel weighed down. The lightweight midsole offers supreme cushioning and support to key areas like the arch and heel, holding the foot securely in place for a smoother transition and wear. By supporting these key areas of the foot, the midsole material can also help to offer enough support to prevent discomfort and possible injury. Also residing in the midsole is a lightweight FlexPlate which provides torsional rigidity, lateral stability, and forefoot flexibility. A 50% recycled EVA footbed with a 100% recycled mesh cover provides step-in plushness.
Vibram TC5+ Outsole
Engineered using a Vibram TC5+ outsole, the Moab Speed provides extreme grip and traction for all surface wear. Developed for slippery terrain, the extremely durable rubber can form a solid bond with the ground to anchor you in place. Despite facing abuse from rough ground, the rubber stands up against this, deflecting the blows and retaining a strong shape and structure. The durable rubber provides a strong grip on the most challenging terrain; it works to protect itself from damage and protect users from losing control and slipping. Vibram traction lugs also feature on the outsole and have been specifically designed to increase traction and shed debris with each step.
