A combination of Scott's Hybrid Traction outsole delivers straight-line power transfer on man-made trails alongside responsive cushioning from the Kinetic Foam midsole, providing 14% more energy return, plus a rock plate for protection to create the perfect shoe for trail ultra marathons.
Breathable Mesh Upper
Supplying feet with an optimum level of fresh, cool comfort, the Kinabalu Ultra RCs utilise a breathable upper. The lightweight materials have strategically placed perforations to keep feet cool and comfortable while also allowing air to freely flow around your feet. The mesh has a flexible construction, meaning the materials flex and move with your feet as you stride, allowing natural movement and a restriction-free running experience. Additionally, the uppers have moisture-wicking properties to prevent a build-up of sweat and moisture, therefore keeping feet cool, dry and feeling fresh even during the more intense sessions of your run. To further enhance the structure and longevity of the shoes, the uppers feature TPU overlays which protect the shoes in high-wearing areas, keeping feet shielded from knocks and bumps. A toe guard is also provided to protect feet from knocks and bumps on the trail. A women-specific racing footbed provides soft comfort directly in contact with the sole of the feet, and over time it will fit specifically to your feet. Finally, the shoes have a traditional lace-up system which provides feet with a locked-in secure fit, preventing in-shoe slippage from occurring.
Kinetic Foam Midsole
The Kinabalu Ultra RCs feature a Kinetic Foam midsole, which is a lightweight and highly responsive foam, to provide you with excellent underfoot cushioning and outstanding comfort. The midsole returns 14% more energy return than your standard EVA, providing you with a plush, stable and more dynamic ride. The soft foam has shock-absorbing properties, meaning impact will be reduced and injury is prevented when striking down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces, therefore keeping you focused on the trail ahead. Additionally, the midsole features Scott's eRIDE technology which is a unique rocker shape that provides a stable mid-stance to promote a faster and more efficient running gait. eRIDE also works with the body to promote a more dynamic running position, therefore helping to reduce heel strike impacts and increasing running efficiency.
Hybrid Traction Outsole
To enhance grip and traction across the varying terrains of your trail running adventure, the shoes utilise a Hybrid Traction outsole. This outsole combines chevron cleats for straight-line power transfer alongside conical cleats for multi-directional traction, which helps to support high-speed cornering.
