Most hiking boots look like ordinary hiking boots. Keen wanted to make a boot that's as comfortable out on the trail as it is dusted off and paired with your go-to 'out with friends' look. With a better leather upper that brings a heritage hiking DNA vibe and rugged, super grippy rubber underfoot, the NXIS Explorer does exactly that.
KEEN.DRY Upper
To guarantee complete protection from the weather and damp conditions, the NXIS Exploris use KEEN.DRY technology which works to simultaneously let moisture out and prevent water from entering, in order to keep your feet dry. This membrane surrounds the upper, acting as a block to prevent any droplets of water from entering and causing discomfort to the feet. Additionally, the shoes utilise premium environmentally preferred nubuck leather (LWG-certified) to enhance the level of protection provided for your feet to thrive and ensure that the shoes have long-lasting durability. Not only this, but the shoes have TPU reinforcements providing additional durability in high-wearing areas and shielding your feet against debris on the trail, allowing you to move fast over a variety of surfaces with confidence. Enhancing comfort, the boots feature a KonnectFit heel-capture system to provide a secure and supportive locked-in feel. The boots are treated with an Eco Anti-Odour, which helps to provide natural odour control, keeping your shoes feeling and smelling fresher for longer. A plush cushioned collar and tongue sit against your foot helping to prevent irritation and abrasion and stopping dirt and debris from entering the shoes to keep your feet comfortable. Finally, the shoes have a speed-lace webbing system with top collar hooks, providing you with a locked-in secure fit, helping to prevent in-shoe slipping from occurring and keeping you focused on the adventures ahead.
EVA Midsole
Constructed using an EVA midsole, the NXIS Explorer provides comfortable cushioning that keeps you going all day long. The dual-density EVA provides significant cushioning and comfort to help improve the level of your performance so you can stay at your optimum level, for longer. Holding excellent cushioning abilities, the midsole absorbs shocks as you move throughout the gait cycle providing resilient cushioning and reducing the risks of potential injury. A removable PU insole also features within the midsole to provide long-lasting comfort and support.
KEEN.ALL-TERRAIN Outsole
Providing ultimate, all-around protection, the NXIS Explorer features a KEEN.ALL-TERRAIN rubber outsole. The durable rubber provides a strong grip on the most challenging terrain; it works to protect itself from damage and protect users from losing control and slipping. It is also highly durable meaning no matter what you throw at it, the NXIS Explorer will perform time and time again. This high-traction rubber promotes grip on a multitude of surfaces while delivering the durability you need to go the distance. Completing the outsole are 4mm multi-directional lugs that provide meaningful traction on tough terrain. The lugs dig into the ground, anchoring you in place. This will also benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking a stride, as well as digging into the ground in changing conditions.
