ASICS Contend 9 PS Junior Running Shoes
The ASICS Contend 9 PS (Pre-School) shoe is designed for young feet. Each shoe in the collection features a hook and loop fastener that helps keep feet stabilised. Details like the toe reinforcement, toe rubber stitching, and solid rubber outsole increase durability and lengthen the shoe's lifespan. Additionally, ASICS' CUB MATCH sockliner is printed with a tiger caricature that helps kids identify the right and left shoe.
Engineered Mesh Upper
Constructed using an engineered mesh upper, the ASICS Contend 9 PS encase each foot in breathable comfort. The mesh allows air to fully permeate the entire upper, providing a constant supply of fresh, cool air while simultaneously forcing out hot, muggy air. This aids moisture management by wicking sweat and excess moisture as it's produced and then transferring it to the outer layers where it can be easily evaporated, keeping your little ones' feet cool, dry and comfortable at all times. The mesh upper creates a perfect microclimate for their feet to thrive in. In addition, overlays work with the lacing system to lock down the midfoot and reduce in-shoe slippage so they can go further for longer and in complete comfort. The lacing system is teamed with a hook-and-loop strap that locks down the midfoot to prevent in-shoe slippage, giving your little one extra confidence and a comfortable fit that's easy to secure and adjust. Additionally, the upper has a soft heel collar that sits comfortably against the skin to reduce the risks of chafing and irritation. Lastly, a rubber toe reinforcement with rubber stitching enhances durability.
At least 20% of the shoe's main upper material is made with recycled content to reduce waste and carbon emissions.
EVA Midsole
The midsole of the ASICS Contend 9 PS features a comfortable, flexible and durable EVA compound. This midsole ensures comfortable cushioning, enhanced durability and more flexibility. The midsole material is engineered to maintain durability at softer densities, providing better flexibility, comfort, and platform adaptability ideal for natural running. Lightweight and resilient, the EVA spares your kids' joints as they strike down on hard, unforgiving surfaces. Completing the midsole is a sockliner that provides added underfoot cushioning as well as enhanced breathability. The sockliner allows cool air to flow throughout the midsole to ensure their feet remain fresher for longer. This CUB MATCH sockliner uses a tiger graphic to help kids recognise the left shoe from the right shoe.
The sockliner is produced with the solution dyeing process that reduces water usage by approximately 33% and carbon emissions by approximately 45% compared to the conventional dyeing technology.
Solid Rubber Outsole
Developed using a solid rubber outsole, the ASICS Contend 9 PS ensures improved grip with a durable finish. The rubber outsole can form a strong bond with the ground beneath it to ensure traction and grip on road surfaces in varied conditions. Having durability and traction enables your child to run with complete confidence that their shoes will keep them grounded at all times. Flex grooves adorn the outsole for more natural movement. In addition, the rubber outsole is highly durable and ensures long-lasting wear.
