ASICS Gel-Cumulus 23 Celebration of Sports Running Shoes
The Gel-Cumulus 23 shoe's focus is to provide an even smoother and softer ride while implementing gender tailored technology in the men's and women's models. Continuing to draw inspiration from cumulus clouds, ASICS reimagined this neutral running shoe's upper and midsole formation by applying a more holistic design approach that adapts to the runner's anatomy in motion.
Engineered Mesh Upper
Featuring an engineered mesh, the upper of the ASICS Gel-Cumulus 23 Running Shoes is designed to add strategic support in targetted areas while leaving some of the fibres more open for improved breathability. Lightweight and highly breathable for all-temperature comfort, the mesh wraps the foot with an even softer feel and acts as a lightweight second skin, providing a supportive and comfortable fit. Its perforated construction allows air to fully permeate the entire upper, letting your feet breathe when the temperature starts to rise or your training session heats up. The increase in ventilation provides a perfect microclimate for your feet to thrive in. As well as this, the newly designed upper also works more closely with the midsole's movement, which creates a smoother stride from footstrike to toe-off. Completing the upper is a lacing system that locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.
FlyteFoam Midsole
Designed to provide lightweight cushioning, the midsole of the Gel-Cumulus 23 has been constructed using ASICS' signature FlytFoam technology cushioning. FlyteFoam is the lightest cushioning material ASICS has ever made, 55% lighter than the industry standard, EVA and it buffers against the ground to protect you from unnecessary stress and fatigue. Its reinforced, organic fibres let the material bounce back to its original shape after every run, so you can train harder, more frequently, for longer without the worry your shoes might not be able to take it. Sitting between the two layers of FlyteFoam is ASICS' signature GEl technology in the heel which adds to the bouncy nature of the midsole. They work to reduce shock during the impact phase, sparing your joints as your sprint down onto hard, unforgiving concrete, and allowing for a smooth transition to mid-stance. The GEL technology in the Gel-Cumulus 23 delivers more compression in the heel thanks to its softer nature. Thanks to the 3D Space Construction that features under the heel, more compression is delivered during a heel landing, which you can then take with you for a smoother transition of the feet. As well as this, the midsole also uses gender-specific technology to ensure complete comfort and support for both men and women. The gender-specific 3D Space Construction provides an articulated amount of support in the right direction for men and women to help generate a smooth transition whilst, under the toe, the inclusion of gender-specific pillars help cushion the body and help runners experience a softer feel.
ASICS LITE Rubber Outsole
Supreme grip and traction are guaranteed with the LITE outsole. This rubber outsole is soft and lighter in weight whilst also remaining very durable and offering a good grip. ASICS' high abrasion rubber is a tough rubber compound used at the heavy-contact or high wear areas which helps to cut down on excessive wear. The high abrasion outsole provides a strong grip and works to protect itself from damage, and protect users from losing control and slipping. Creating a strong bond with the ground beneath it, the outsole allows you to stay in full control at all times. An impact guidance system exists underfoot to enhance the foot's natural gait from heel-strike to toe-off. The guidance line exists to enhance gait efficiency while increasing the shoe's torsional rigidity to prevent it from twisting. Lastly, deep flex grooves create smoother transitions from midfoot to toe-off.
