Salomon Ultra Glide 2 GORE-TEX Women's Trail Running Shoes
The Ultra Glide 2 is an updated version of Salomon's comfortable and grippy long-distance trail shoe that has been made more breathable and is still super lightweight at 270 grams. Improvements to the Ultra Glide 2 build on the brand's foam expertise to deliver more comfort.
GORE-TEX Upper
To avoid damp feet, and therefore dampened spirits, a GORE-TEX membrane resides inside the shoe; it supplies a combination of durable waterproofing and optimised breathability. Sometimes it's hard to stay dry without developing that distracting clammy feeling, but GORE-TEX keeps water on the outside while letting perspiration escape from the inside, keeping sweat to a minimum and you, cool and comfy. Less TPU in the upper makes the Ultra Glide 2 more flexible and more breathable whilst also reducing the overall weight of the trail running shoe. As well as this, the collar and tongue have been reworked to be thinner for added comfort and fewer distractions. This also allows for a more snug fit. Finishing the upper is a Quicklace system that makes for an easy and quick lockdown of the midfoot to prevent in-shoe slippage for a distraction-free run.
Energy Foam Midsole
Lightweight and responsive, the midsole of the Ultra Glide 2 is constructed with Energy Foam designed to deliver long-lasting cushioning and outstanding bouncy energy return. The Energy Foam midsole guarantees plush landings, even over long-distance and on rugged terrain and surfaces. The midsole provides a cushioned feel which is responsive to your every step enabling a higher energy transfer; for reduced fatigue as you run. The premium performance running platform delivers long-distance cushioned comfort with smooth transitions and the proven rocker geometry, called R.Camber, combined with a 6mm drop, ensures quick and smooth transitions. The insole is now glued to the inside of the shoe to prevent it from slipping when running up or down a hill.
All-Terrain Contagrip Outsole
Crafted with All-Terrain Contagrip, the outsole perfectly balances geometry with rubber to deliver confident running on a wide range of surfaces. The Contagrip provides outstanding traction on wet, dry, hard, and loose surfaces giving you stability whilst on the trail. The outsole is able to form a solid grip between the shoe and the terrain. Built with larger lugs, the Ultra Glide 2 delivers optimum grip to keep you grounded on tough terrain. When you are running on wet and muddy ground, the shoe's deep chevron lugs dig into the ground, anchoring you in place. This will also benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking a stride, as well as digging into the ground when braking and changing direction. The rubber construction of the outsole provides the shoes with durability helping to reduce the risk of wearing in high-wear areas of the sole.
