Breathable Mesh Upper
Supplying your feet with a comfortable level of airflow, the Nike ReactX Pegasus Trail 5 have strategically placed engineered mesh throughout the upper, which was designed using runner-informed data to provide you with a sturdy, lightweight and breathable feel. Alongside this, the shoes have tighter woven fabric placed across the toes to supply feet with an additional level of durability and protection from knocks, bumps and scrapes on the trail. The shoes have Flywire technology throughout the upper construction, which has been integrated into the midfoot band for total support, which also helps to keep your foot in place. This is controlled by the lacing system to supply feet with a locked-in and secure fit, preventing in-shoe slippage from occurring. Lastly, pull tabs at the heel assist in putting the shoes on and off.
Nike ReactX Midsole
A Nike ReactX unit resides in the midsole to deliver exceptional cushioning plus smooth responsiveness. To produce this midsole, Nike listened to the voice of the athlete. Their in-house sports research lab plugged footstrike data into a proprietary algorithm that determined how much cushioning was needed and where. They simulated testing on approximately one hundred possible shoe geometries to quickly determine the handful they knew would work best for most runners and then merged the science with an elegant design, intended to feel like a slipper on a mattress. The reactive nature of the midsole means it absorbs impact and then expels it back out for a bounce-like effect. This energy-return technology reduces the use of superfluous muscle power, diminishing fatigue and enhancing performance, keeping you going for longer. The rubber outsole has a generative traction pattern, created using data from runners like you to provide enhanced traction and increased durability where needed. The outsole ensures a strong grip and works to protect itself from damage and protect users from losing control and slipping. The rubber covers the heel, forefoot, and midfoot to enhance durability, resisting the traumas of heel strike and toe-off to provide you with a reliable and long-lasting running buddy. The rubber features deeper grooves that compress and cushion as you strike down on hard, unforgiving surfaces whilst the rubber at the midfoot wraps around the front of the shoe for more durability and protection, ideal for technical trail running. Remaining lightweight and durable, the outsole and its geometric, athlete-informed traction pattern help evenly disperse impact to provide a smooth transition and a soft feel.
