Tenaya Masai Climbing Shoes
The climbing shoe of choice for vertical or slightly overhanging routes and boulder problems, the Masai is part of the RA project. It has been designed for maximum efficiency on micro-edges.
Microfibre Upper
The Masai utilises a microfibre upper for protection and support when you're bouldering or climbing. With a soft, flexible construction, the upper allows you to move comfortably and sits cosily against your feet to prevent discomfort. The microfibre is breathable to prevent overheating, whilst has a TXT-treated cotton interior for a soft, next-to-skin sensation, preventing discomfort and irritation. Moisture-wicking properties also help to keep feet dry during more intense periods of your climb. The shoes have a durable rubber rand across the toe-box and around the base of the shoes, to add durability in high-wearing areas, preventing discomfort from scrapes and bumps across the rocks. This also adds structure to the shoes. The lace-up closure provides you with an infinitely adjustable volume, to provide you with a snug, comfortable fit. This ensures that no matter your foot width or shape, the shoes remain secure, and feet are locked in. Working with this, a soft tongue sits against your foot and is highly breathable to further keep your foot secure and cool.
2D PLT 10 Midsole
For comfort and stability across the rocks and boulders, the shoes have a stiff yet soft and sensitive 2D PLT 10 midsole compound. The rigidity of the midsole allows power to be transmitted to the surface for a more responsive sensation, whilst ensuring a close connection with the rocks below. Additionally, a TST multi-layer Stretchtex insole works with the midsole to provide you with extra cushioning.
Vibram XS Grip Outsole
Adorning the outsole is a 4mm Vibram XS Grip rubber which provides feet with a great level of grip and traction when traversing rocks or boulders. This durable compound is reliable in keeping you surefooted across tricky climbs and works with the slightly downturned design to provide extreme precision when you're on small edges, rounded hold and cracks. This makes it perfect for vertical or slightly overhanging routes and boulder problems. Finally, the shoes feature SXR Dynamic technology to increase the dynamic response of the shoes, to improve the shoe's ability to adapt to a range of rock shapes, providing increased precision and comfort.
