A workhorse for sloppy, wet conditions, the Speedgoat 5 Mid GORE-TEX has been built with the same GORE-TEX membrane as its lower profile counterpart, along with a soft heel tab to accommodate the Achilles and flexible collar for extra ankle support.
GORE-TEX Upper
The Hoka Speedgoat 5 Mid GORE-TEX utilises mesh materials that are designed using recycled content in creating a double-jacquard mesh construction, for an extremely durable garment that will ensure you stay at an optimum temperature and comfort. Lightweight and breathable, the mesh allows cool air to flow through the shoe removing uncomfortable heat build-up and regulating internal temperature to create a healthy environment where feet can thrive. To avoid damp feet, and therefore dampened spirits, a GORE-TEX membrane resides inside the shoe; supplying a combination of durable waterproofing and optimised breathability. GORE-TEX keeps water on the outside while letting perspiration escape from the inside; keeping sweat to a minimum and you, cool and comfy. The fabrication hugs the foot offering lightweight support whilst strategically placed overlays across the midfoot help to lock the foot down in the shoe keeping you feeling secure and locked in for a stable and supportive fit. Ensuring much-needed support, the overlays also increase durability by protecting both the shoe and the foot from possible damage that may be encountered along your route. Alongside this, the boots have a rubber toe cap for shielding feet from knocks and bumps on the trail, and a bolstered heel collar design prevents irritation from occurring when wearing the boots. A gusseted tongue has been added to the upper to provide next-to-skin comfort, which prevents any dirt or debris from entering the boots, whilst also providing ventilation to your feet, for ultimate confidence with every stride. A traditional lace-up construction, with 100% recycled materials provides your feet with a locked-in, secure fit so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.
EVA Midsole
A lightweight EVA foam has been used within the midsole of the Hoka Speedgoat 5 Mid GORE-TEX to ensure a cushioned and responsive ride. This specialised midsole material provides lightweight cushioning, even more so than its predecessor, keeping your feet comfortable and supported as you move through uneven terrain. The lightweight foam is also highly responsive as it works to adapt to the ground beneath you and works to propel you forward as you move throughout the gait cycle. The light foam is ideal for this running shoe as it prevents the wearer from feeling weighed down and will keep you feeling light and quick on your feet. As well as this, the foam absorbs shock and impacts in key areas of the shoe and helps to stabilise the foot keeping you firmly on your feet. Additionally, the late-stage MetaRocker enhances smooth heel-to-toe transitions, providing you with natural strides and working to propel you forward naturally and comfortably. Completing the midsole is a wider platform, and the toe box is designed to provide more stability on a wide variety of terrain so you can have assured footing no matter how challenging the ground beneath you may be. The wider forefoot also ensures a more accommodating fit so you can remain comfortable for longer.
Vibram Megagrip Outsole
Completing the Hoka Speedgoat 5 Mid is a Vibram MegaGrip outsole that ensures traction and grip on varied terrain. This high-performance rubber compound provides you with an unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces, rugged longevity and optimal ground adaptability. The rubber can form a solid bond with the ground beneath it to ensure traction and control as you explore the unbeaten path. Zonal rubber placement ensures traction and grip where you need it the most whilst remaining lightweight so you can cut through tough terrain with ease. Furthermore, 5mm lugs adorn the outsole to provide flexible and sticky multi-directional traction as you tackle awkward ascents and daring descents.
