ASICS Gel-Sonoma 8 GORE-TEX Trail Running Shoes
The Gel-Sonoma 8 GORE-TEX is designed for the great outdoors. It's a durable trail model made to provide grip on off-road surfaces. A GORE-TEX upper construction helps prevent rain and snow from entering the shoe's interior. It's also functional for improving the shoe's fit and breathability.
Engineered Mesh Upper
Engineered to keep you cool and comfortable, the upper of the Gel-Sonoma 8 has been made using an extremely breathable mesh and a GORE-TEX membrane. As your feet warm up, the air within the shoes can escape and is replaced by cooler air which will feel extremely comfortable. This constant ventilation process gives you one less distraction to worry about. To avoid damp feet, and therefore dampened spirits, a GORE-TEX membrane resides inside the shoe; supplying a combination of durable waterproofing and optimised breathability. Sometimes it's hard to stay dry without developing that distracting clammy feeling, but GORE-TEX keeps water on the outside while letting perspiration escape from the inside; keeping sweat to a minimum and you, cool and comfy. Synthetic overlays improve durability while helping feet stay secure and reduce slippage while the heel pull tabs assist in putting the shoes on and off. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system which locks the midfoot for a secure fit.
Amplifoam Plus Midsole
The Gel-Sonoma has an energetic underfoot ride thanks to the Amplifoam Plus midsole. This foam is softer and bouncier, providing a great feel from footstrike to toe-off. The soft and energetic nature of the midsole increases the underfoot softness, almost enveloping the foot in a plush, supportive wrap. An Ortholite sockliner supplies an extra layer of plush and hygienic underfoot comfort. This premium sockliner features higher rebound properties but also provides excellent moisture management and a high level of breathability; so you stay damp-free and comfortable on hot, longer-distance days. Further embedded within this platform is the Rearfoot GEL technology. This technology reduces shock during impact, sparing your joints as you run onto hard, unforgiving terrain and allowing for a peaceful transition to mid-stance.
Solid Rubber Outsole
The outsole of the Gel-Sonoma 8 is made from moulded rubber, creating a tough, protective outsole that can take anything you throw at it. Multi-directional lugs are included to make it tough enough to go the distance and offer superb grip and traction to allow you to push yourself further in the worst conditions possible. These lugs prevent your feet from sliding sideways or backwards and help to control your pace during descents.
