Adaptable, protective and ready for technical terrain. The Cascadia 16 GORE-TEX has more release grooves in the midsole to allow for enhanced adaptability on rough terrain and the Ballistic Rock Shield now includes vertical grooves to provide side-to-side adaptability.
GORE-TEX Upper
A lightweight GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane is bonded directly to the upper for a lighter, more flexible fit whilst supplying a combination of durable waterproofing and optimised breathability. Sometimes it's hard to stay dry without developing that distracting clammy feeling, but GORE-TEX keeps water on the outside while letting perspiration escape from the inside; keeping sweat to a minimum and you, cool and comfy. The upper of the Cascadia 16 has been constructed using a breathable mesh to create a cool and dry environment for your feet while you run. The mesh actively and efficiently wicks away the build-up of excess sweat and moisture to leave you feeling cool, dry and comfortable as you strive for the best results and performance. Additionally, cool air is encouraged to circulate, creating a drier, healthier environment for your feet to thrive. A padded tongue sits comfortably against the skin to ensure optimum comfort as well as prevent irritation such as chafing and lastly, a traditional lacing closure provides a secure, locked-in feel as you run.
DNA Loft v2 Midsole
DNA Loft cushioning now extends throughout the midsole for an even smoother transition from heel to toe, so you get more of the softest cushioning underfoot, regardless of how your foot lands. By adapting to specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customised cushioning and adds a spring to your step. Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to specific needs - even as they change during the run. DNA LOFT v2 midsole makes the latest cushioning 5% softer and 20% lighter than the Cascadia 15 whilst adding 2mm to the midsole height to provide more comfort across any trail. lastly, more release grooves in the midsole promote extra adaptability on rough terrains.
TrailTack Rubber Outsole
The TrailTack rubber outsole and high surface-area lugs provide outstanding uphill and downhill traction, even on slippery surfaces. Brooks have engineered this shoe's Ballistic Rock Shield to protect feet from rocks and roots - while also staying comfortably flexible as you take on any terrain. Ensuring multi-directional grip, the outsole provides traction on varied terrain ensuring confident footing on any run. The durable rubber provides a strong grip on the most challenging terrain; it works to protect itself from damage, and protect users from losing control and slipping. The durable, resilient non-skid rubber delivers optimal grip and traction, ideal for technical trails where unpredictable terrain is highly prevalent. Lastly, the new midsole and outsole construction allow the shoe to mould more easily to the ground, therefore, improving the stable ride.
